Day 1 Arrive in Quito. Meet & Greet service at the airport, and escorted transfer by van to the city hotel of your choice for an overnight stay.

Day 2

After an early breakfast, transfer back to the airport for your 30-minute flight over the high Andes to the Amazon frontier town of Shell. Then board a smaller aircraft for a 30-minute flight to Sharamentsa, and board a motorized dugout canoe for a 1 ½ hour ride to the Kapawi Lodge, for a three-night stay including all meals. Upon arrival in the afternoon, begin visiting the rainforest with your Achuar Indian and naturalist guides. Your accommodations at the Lodge, while rustic, are clean and comfortable. Each room has a private bath, sun-heated showers, and solar powered lighting. (B, L & D)

Amazon & Galapagos

Day 3 & 4 Spend your days enjoying guided nature walks and canoeing through the backwaters in search of exotic flora and fauna. Every day you will have the option to participate in a variety of excursions, from easy to challenging, from one hour to a full day. Program choices include jungle hikes, visits to the Achuar communities, as well as canoe trips. The Lodge’s 3000-acre estate is home to 14 varieties of monkeys, 500 species of birds, 4000 species of fish and over 15,000 species of plants. (B, L & D)

Day 5 After an early breakfast, head back the way you came, starting with the canoe, to the small plane, to the larger plane which will find you in Quito in the early afternoon. Upon arrival in Quito, van transfer to the city hotel of your choice for an overnight stay. The balance of the day is free to enjoy the sights and sounds of Quito. (B)

Day 6 Transfer to the airport for your 1 ¾ hour flight to San Cristobal Island in the Galapagos Island chain. Upon arrival at Puerto Baquerizo Moreno Airport, transfer to the M/V Explorer II, a deluxe, fully air-conditioned 52- suite ship. Amenities on this vessel include marble bathrooms, VCR, TV, mini-refrigerators, a swimming pool, solarium, dining room, lounge, three bars, a boutique and a reading room. Enjoy daily landing excursions, and all onboard meals are included. (D)

Day 7, 8 & 9 Spend your days exploring this fascinating group of islands. The Galapagos Islands are home to many unique species of wildlife that can be seen nowhere else on the planet. Visit the islands of Bartolome, Santiago, Isabella, Fernandina, and Santa Cruz, in search of unique endemic animals such as the Galapagos Sea Lion, the Galapagos Marine and Land Iguana, and the Galapagos Giant Tortoise. The Galapagos is also home to endemic bird species such as penguins, pelicans, cormorants, flamingos, Red and Blue Footed Boobies, the Waved Albatross, and the Great Frigatebird. (B, L & D)

Day 10 This morning the M/V Explorer II will be sailing around Kicker Rock, en route to San Cristobal Island and Puerto Baquerizo Moreno. Disembark the ship and enjoy a nature walk of Loberia Beach to view a large colony of Sea Lions. After your walk, transfer to the airport for your flight back to Quito. Upon arrival in Quito, van transfer to the city hotel of your choice for an overnight stay. The balance of the day is free to enjoy the sights and sounds of Quito. (B)

Day 11 At the appropriate time, transfer to the airport for your international flight home or travel on to your next exciting destination.
